Reviews of my Current Hand Creams: Clé de Peau Beauté, Dior, and Yojiya

Clé de Peau Beauté Hand Cream SPF 18 PA++

The Clé de Peau Beauté Hand Cream, an emollient cream, addresses dryness and fine lines, while improving the overall condition of the hands through its moisturizing and revitalizing benefits. The SPF 18 protects hands against UVB rays, on top of containing a brightening ingredient that helps reduce the appearance of dark spots and promote a more even skin tone. It also has a mild fragrance of peony and rare orchid.

The small tube is the old packaging.

A tube contains 75 ml of product, which I believe is more than what most hand creams in the market typically offer.

Review

I enjoy using the Clé de Peau Beauté Hand Cream, especially in the office, because of its elegant and relaxing fragrance of peony and rare orchid. 🙂 The cream absorbs quickly, so I do not worry of my phone slipping out of my hands just after applying it. 😁

I’m nearly done with my tube, and I find that it has helped keep my hands from looking overworked and dull. I also really appreciate that it offers sun protection. I’ve developed sunspots, but using this hand cream alongside frequent applications of body sunscreen has really diminished their appearance.

There are, however, two things I dislike about this hand cream:

  • The tube is too bulky for the amount of product it contains. I don’t understand why they had to change the packaging, as the previous version came in a tube about as small as the sunscreen. I wonder if the change was intended to make the two products easier to distinguish?
  • The moisturizing effect seems temporary when my hands are really, really dry. I do reapply it frequently, sometimes after every hand wash, but it still doesn’t seem to provide enough moisture.

I have a backup tube because the scent is truly irresistible. That may be the last tube I would use, though, unless Clé de Peau Beauté reformulates it. I do enjoy trying out different hand creams, after all. 😁

Clé de Peau Beauté is available at Rustan’s Makati (I highly recommend visiting this branch!), Greenbelt 5, and possibly Mall of Asia, although I’m not sure about the latter. The hand cream is also available for purchase on their official website.

Dior Le Baume

The Dior Le Baume is a multi-use skincare product suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. It can be used on the hands, lips—any dry areas that need moisture and nourishment. It comes in a sleek, rounded tube, making it easy to slip into a purse or bag, designed with the Christian Dior band and Dior Oblique motif. Dior also released a limited-edition version with a silicone charm case.

Le Baume has a lightweight consistency that absorbs quickly into my skin and keeps it moisturized. The skin around my nails tends to get quite dry because I frequently wash my hands or use alcohol/alcogel, and I find that this cream isn’t enough to keep the dryness at bay. However, it does a good job of keeping my hands moisturized and nourished in general, as my palms don’t feel tight after application.

Being multi-use makes it a great product to bring when traveling, which would be my top excuse to repurchase it. 😛 I haven’t tried using it on my face, though. I’d still prefer a separate moisturizer for my face, but I guess Le Baume could come in handy in an “emergency.”

Yojiya Yuzu Hand Cream

Yojiya, originating in Kyoto, Japan, and established in 1904, is known for its aburatorigami or oil blotting paper. I read that they have expanded their product line up of mainly skincare over the years. I always see this brand when I go through Haneda Airport, so I finally picked up one of their sets to try. It includes oil blotting sheets, a cute tiny mirror, and a Yuzu Hand Cream.

The Yuzu Hand Cream is the most moisturising out of the three hand creams currently in my rotation; I’d definitely repurchase or stock up on a few more IF I didn’t have several hand creams . 😁

It is made of yuzu peel oil and natural plant extracts, as well as sericin. Produced by silkworms, sericin has moisture-retaining properties. I find its mild scent a bit refreshing. The hand cream has a thick consistency that does not leave my skin feeling greasy. I just have to be mindful of how much I use because applying too much, can make everything slippery. 😅 One time, I couldn’t hold my phone for several minutes until the hand cream had fully absorbed.

The Yuzu Hand Cream is only available in a small tube containing 30 g of product.

Where to Buy

Outside Kyoto, Yojiya has a store in Haneda Airport Terminal 1 and a counter in one of the duty free cosmetics stores past the security checkpoint, which is where I got mine. This particular hand cream is also available on Amazon Japan as a set of three.
