I know I said that the next in my current travelog series would be about Great Falls Park. But I only have a few pictures from this short side trip, and I want to show these to my book-lovin’ friends, especially Kat. 😁
Dad’s colleague drove me to the Chevy Chase Library, part of the DC Public Library. She offered to drive me there after she saw me browse the books in the World Bank’s Info Shop. She told me not to get anything yet until I saw their local library, since it has a book sale section. 💸💸💸
The Chevy Chase Library is the first library I’ve been to in the US. Besides the main library, it also has a reading garden and playground.
Lots of books to choose from; sorted alphabetically by author.
This section (in the photo) is on the second floor. That Friday afternoon was not crowded, so I could browse the shelves freely. They even have a bowl of dark chocolate Kisses served on the center table. 🍫 There are more books for sale on the ground floor.
On weekends, books ranging from $2 to $4 are half off. I still got a discount since my dad’s colleague is a volunteer seller there. 😁 She gave me a Haruki Murakami book and some Paulo Coelho titles I didn’t have yet. I would have gotten more, but luggage weight limits forced me to have self-control. 😅 But I was told any more books I want could be pouched to Manila at no extra cost. Yay!
I need to dedicate my shelves at home to only books, since my bookshelves are currently a mix of books, magazines, and journals.
