I’m a sucker for coconut-scented skincare and body care products, so I couldn’t resist picking up the Marc Jacobs Re(cover) Perfecting Coconut Setting Mist.

According to Skincarisma’s ingredient analysis, the setting mist contains four ingredients that are beneficial for dry skin: glycerin, butylene glycol, sodium hyaluronate, and tocopherol. However, it also contains three ingredients that may be comedogenic for oily skin: coconut alkanes, coconut oil, and PPG-5-Ceteth-10 phosphate.
I have oily skin, but fortunately, I haven’t experienced any breakouts or clogged pores so far. That said, I’ve only used the setting mist three or four times, not even on consecutive days. So it’s still too early for me to draw any firm conclusions about how it performs on my skin over the long term.
Usage
I never press the spray button down completely because one full spray is actually enough to cover my entire face. Unfortunately, the nozzle is problematic, so I usually end up spraying each side of my face separately, which dispenses more product than I need. My face ends up looking very dewy, even though it already gets “naturally dewy” thanks to my oily skin. 😂

The Re(cover) Perfecting Coconut Setting Mist leaves the skin with a dewy, radiant finish. It’s probably the kind of setting spray most people with oily skin would avoid, but I have oily skin who actually enjoys a glowy complexion. ðŸ¤
This is the only setting spray I’ve come across that contains 112 ml (3.8 fl. oz.) of product. The bottle is quite large, so it’s not the most travel-friendly. However, because it claims to provide up to 24-hour wear (which I can’t personally verify) and, in my experience, keeps my makeup looking fresh throughout my entire work shift. I’ve never felt the need to reapply.
The biggest drawback is the spray nozzle. Instead of releasing a fine, even mist, it shoots out a narrow stream of liquid, as you may have noticed in the video above. If I were to use it as the final step to set my makeup, it would likely disrupt or even ruin it.
Because of that, I prefer using it before or after applying my base makeup. For example, if I’m wearing a matte foundation but still want a subtle glow, especially on certain areas of my face while keeping, like my nose, relatively matte, I spray this on first before applying foundation. That way, I get a more natural-looking luminosity without disturbing my makeup.

Marc Jacobs Beauty products are available at Sephora Philippines. The Marc Jacobs Re(cover) Perfecting Coconut Setting Mist retails for ₱2,353, which I think is reasonably priced considering it contains 112 ml (3.8 fl. oz.) of product. I believe it is more than most setting sprays on the market.
